EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT - YOUNG VOICES 2017 (posted 23rd November 2016)

We are thrilled to announce that we are lucky enough to be taking part in a 'Young Voices' Concert in early 2017!  We have always been very proud of the way our children can sing in the school performances and decided to take it one step further this year!  Our entire Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) will travel up to Sheffield on Wednesday 11th January at lunchtime ready to perform to a full arena of parents at 7pm!

For those of you who haven't heard of Young Voices before, they provide children with the opportunity to perform in some of the world’s greatest arenas alongside incredible artists which in turn has a massive impact on the children involved.  We learn songs in school which are also being learned in hundreds of other schools across the country and then there are a series of concerts held all across the country to enable all of these children to come together to perform in the most fantastic of ways.  There is a massive sense of achievement gained from rehearsing over so many months and finally able performing in some of the world's largest arenas!

Young Voices themselves say "to achieve this with all their school friends around them for support, helps their self-belief, confidence and ability to communicate as part of a team, which is invaluable. Add to this the numerous health benefits of consistent singing in rehearsals, from breathing regulation to relieving stress and it’s no wonder that Young Voices is over-subscribed year after year"

Rehersals start today and will continue every Wednesday between now and January.  The children have 11 songs to learn - some of which will be familiar to them but some will be completely new.  They will be given a CD each next week to enable them to listen and practise at home too.

One of the highlights of the whole process is to see the pride  that the children have in their own performance, and this is further amplified when their parents are able to share the experience as part of the audience.  We have sent home a letter today with an order form attached for tickets - please let Ms Miller know by Friday how many tickets you would like to purchase so that we can send our order off.

If you have any questions then please don't hesitate to see Mrs Froggatt or Ms Miller.
